Celebrasia: Graphics, Print & Brand Development
I served as the Publicity Chair of Celebrasia 2024, Northwestern University’s biggest annual celebration of Asian culture and identity. I designed the logo and typography for the event based on the theme of “Head in the Clouds”, as well as graphics for social media publishing, digital projection, and printed banner advertising.

TPED: Social Media Graphics, Email Campaign & Brand Development
Before becoming the Co-President of Northwestern University’s Theme Park Engineering & Design club, I served as the Outreach chair and Secretary over the course of 3 years, during which I piloted and implemented the use of Mailchimp for regular weekly emails to our members, while designing graphics for our social media platforms that I managed.
I also created a band new logo & consistent brand identity for the club featuring iconic silhouettes that define the club, distinct color palettes, typography and textures, all inspired by the funk & groove of theme parks.

Phase Scientific: Commercial Print + Social Media Advertising & Product Design
During my summer internship at Phase Scientific, a leading biotechnology startup in Hong Kong that specializes in rapid testing kits, I had the opportunity to work in a wide range of commercial design mediums such as printed banners, die-cut poster boards, social media advertising and even product packaging design. As an intern, I was able to gain experience working in a fast-paced work environment that involved close communication between multiple departments and contractors, while still being able to execute my own designs following the established brand guidelines of the company.

HKSA: Social Media Management & Graphic Design
I served as the PR Chair of Northwestern University’s Hong Kong Student Association. I created the inaugural 3-post banner spread on Instagram to herald the organization’s return to campus, inspired by collage boards and the two main elements that characterize our home city: food and architecture. Throughout my 2-year tenure, I managed the official Instagram account of the organization, helping it gain 300 new followers, and also designed graphics for event advertising and introductory posts.

Logo Redesign
I spearheaded the redesign of our logo, the old version of which had been a relic of the organization’s defunct predecessor. Using recognizable elements from the Hong Kong flag, such as the Bauhinia flower and the colors red and white, I integrated the letters “HKSA NU” into the shape of the flower petals and added a purple gradient to represent our ties to Northwestern University.

As the publicity and outreach manager of multiple student and non-profit organizations, I designed and developed brand logos, style guides, color palettes, and even custom typography — all with careful consideration for the client's mission, cultural background, audience, and desired aesthetic.
As a designer, I love taking things that people are familiar with in their everyday lives and turning it into something new and exciting — something that can tell a story the minute you see it.
When it came to designing a logo for my own website, I decided to go way back and draw inspiration from my grandpa, who is a calligraphy aficionado and one of the most important people in my life.
As a kid, I was fascinated by all the brushes and parchment paper and fancy inks that he used for his work, but I was most intrigued by the little jade stamp, on which his Chinese name is engraved, that he would sign all his pieces with.
Little me promised myself that I would one day get a Chinese stamp signature of my own, and what better way to honor that promise now as an adult than designing my own "stamp" based on a stylized version of my Chinese name?
During my summer internship with PHASE Scientific, a multinational biotech company, I designed digital and print ads for their retail rapid tests, as well as product packaging and paperwork, using a variety of tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, XD, Canva, and Google Ads.
I also gained experience printing professional marketing materials with industry standards, such as Pantone colors and different types of banner paper/cardstock, as well as creating professional mockups for publishing.
Through implementing an established brand identity in a diverse range of mediums, I was able to work with different departments, contractors and vendors in developing effective marketing strategies and campaigns.
I managed a wide variety of different social media platforms in my marketing and publicity roles for school-based organizations, ranging from a cultural identity club to a pre-professional themed entertainment & engineering society — and even an a cappella group!
With each organization, I develop and adapt different marketing strategies based on their needs, and I enjoy learning new skills and tools that I can use to help achieve their goals. I feel the most fulfilled and satisfied when I am able to give people a new experience — whether through an email newsletter campaign that I initiated and created from scratch, or a 3-post Instagram spread I designed to welcome the rebrand of an organization.
As the marketing chair of an a cappella group, I filmed, edited and produced music videos of our performances, including 2 professionally-released EP singles. I have experience filming with professional DSLR cameras, recording with a full studio setup, and editing with softwares such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Ableton Live.
